This is a great family friendly restraunt. Their fried chicken is just like from home... So yummy. I recommend eating here. It gives a nice home cooking feeling. They are willing to accommodate for larger groups with their back room. And did I mention everything is freshly made daily... Yummy bread and pies. Pecan pie was my favorite!

The restaurant is rustic and comfortable. The staff was pleasant and the service attentive. The food was ok at best. If I'm looking for lunch in the area next time I'll be looking for another place.

Stay away. Waitress was rude, seemed as though we were bothering her. The tables were dirty and sticky like they needed to be scrubbed down. We used a baby wipe to get some of it clean, bet we could have scraped the crud off. Food was ok

I've passed by this restaurant a million times and just recently stopped in to try it out. The menu was pretty diverse -- you can get anything from CFS to fried seafood. The prices are pretty reasonable, too. I tried the chicken fried steak. It was pretty good. I got the mashed potatoes and black-eyed peas as sides. The potatoes were really good (I believe homemade?) The black eyed peas were a little firm like they opened up a can of generic peas and zapped them real quick. I had a slice of pecan pie for dessert, which was really good as well. Service was good, and my tea was always at least half-full. I enjoyed my visit and will go back again.

I love this place, you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Big food for little Prices!

This has been a family favorite for years for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Love the Indian tacos and hand-breaded chicken fried steak. Good home-cooking just like we used to get at grandma's!

Great little place, tasty fresh food, and sweet treats. My server was super nice and friendly, and the place had a very relaxed air and feel to it. A great place for a nice sit down lunch.

They have done it again!..Still the best hand breaded chicken fried steak and real mash and gravy in Oklahoma!!! I always make sure to bring my family home some stew and cornbread for later in the week...Don't even think about getting pies or cakes from anywhere else, because this man has it down to a science. I brought a strawberry and banana pie to my inlaws for thanksgiving and they were basically fighting over the last piece! Husband had Pecan pie at lunch and is also to die! Chicken and noodles that you will have dreams about and wake up drooling over... (I know I do) I usually have it for an appetizer... If you are ever in Oklahoma City make sure you head to the east side for some down home REAL southern cookin. This family is doing it right...

Hmm ... dim lighting, a panoply of octogenarians,* and a slightly cramped layout make this the perfect example of the diner that, unfortunately, never changed or modernized since its inception. Service is fine, but food is bland, unseasoned and unimaginative. I think this is one of those places that I "just don't get" because I ain't a native. I suspect that if my dish could have been served with a heaping helping of nostalgia, I'd consider it more successful. As it stands, it just doesn't work for me. * Not that there's anything wrong with that; it's simply unusual for me to enjoy food purveyed by places patronized by large numbers of the chronologically advanced.

Decided to try this place out with my sister. By the time our food came out it was cold and bland. Looked a bit old and dirty. Very slow service and had to wave the waitress down for refills or when she was needed. Then again this was about 2 years ago...

Good food, good prices, good service. I've been coming here at least once a week for 3 months, I haven't been disappointed.

Don's Alley is 90's style diner with sandwiches, burgers, hot dinners, breakfast, and best of all, a candy counter. I had a southwest chicken sandwich, that now that I think about it, is still in my hotel refrigerator. They had a heaping helping of deli chicken with fresh lettuce, tomato, and red onion. I spend most of my time trying to decide if I liked the bread which reminded me of a yeast roll (bun in this case) but was far too soft. I had a salad with my meal that was very simple, as I expected, and came with Lettuce, cherry tomatoes, and onion. Not a fancy salad, but the lettuce was crisp and the tomatoes were juicy and sweet, which cannot always be said of cherry tomatoes.Overall, I enjoyed my sandwich and would definitely go back to try something else. Oh, and the candy counter is just cool. Takes me back to the day when my parent would tell me about all the old candy you can never find anymore. But Don's Alley has a pretty good variety!

Don's Alley is not the kind of restaurant I would pick out for myself. It is the epitome of Okie Western, but I was with a group of people and majority rules! Fortunately, Don's Alley was not that bad! The menu was standard fare for good home cookin'--if you're veg, your options are limited to house salad and/or grilled cheese. I ended up ordering the fish sandwich, which was very good. It was like a fancier fish filet sandwich from McD's, except much tastier and better quality. If you want your just desserts, check out the pie here. I decided to treat myself with a piece of chocolate pie, and oh my goodness, was that piece of chocolate pie delicious. Other members of the group ordered blackberry pie and sugar-free cherry pie that received many compliments. I enjoyed the Okie Western ambiance with pictures of the good ol' days on the wall and the brown rafters. The decor is definitely dated, but in a nice, nostalgic way. The food is good, and the 8 other people in the group today agreed! Normally, I'd rate this kind of restaurant 3 stars, because while the food is good, the menu did not have a lot of variety. But what bumped Don's Alley up a notch was the excellent service! Our waitress was very attentive, answered many questions, and was quick on the draw in refilling my diet Dr Pepper. Despite not being my usual kind of place, good food and a good time were still had!

I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and fried okra. The mashed potatoes were made from scratch and the gravy was yummy! The okra was pretty average but very fresh! I took home a chocolate pie for dessert and it was delicious, but a little too rich for me. I could only eat half! The only complaint I have is that the chicken fried steak was a little tough and had a little too much breading for my taste. But the flavor was definitely good! I will be returning to try some of the other items on the menu!

I do like that it's on obviously a spot where locals come regularly to hang out and have breakfast. The food is cheap and homey. Cute little cabin decor. Just wasn't wowed by the food. Not very flavorful. Service was rushed but she was on top of things.

  • Rex B.

I'm probably being a bit generous with the stars here, but this place is a classic and gets the extra star due to longevity. Lunch and dinner... Meh. Stick to breakfast. Really can't go wrong with anything as it's made to order and probably exactly what you'd expect. Eggs any way you want them, sausage patty, not links (exactly as it should be), and house potatoes that you'll probably want more of. Get a blueberry pancake instead of the biscuits and gravy, they'll do it for you.

Stopped by a bit after 11 am because of yelp breakfast recommend ation. Restaurant sign says:"BREAKFAST" right at t h e top in big bold letters. They stop serving breakfast at 11. If you advertise as a breakfast place, offer breakfast.
